Summer House fans are blasting Hannah Berner’s show exit announcement as a planned PR strategy in an effort to avoid heightened media coverage.
After recently announcing her show exit, Hannah Berner is still under fire from Summer House fans who think she orchestrated the reveal. With her sharing the big news on a Friday night, many think it was her way of avoiding heightened media coverage on her departure. Hannah’s removal comes amid backlash from viewers who think she spoiled season five with her poor behavior.
After three seasons starring on the hit series, the Berning in Hell host decided to call it quits so she could go tell fart jokes on stage. A lot has changed for Hannah since she started dating fellow comedian Des Bishop last summer. The two moved fast toward living together and getting engaged in less than nine months. His introduction on the show appeared to do more harm than good after Hannah revealed the pair hooked up in Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s bathroom. That was just the icing on the cake to a series of antics Hannah was called out for at the reunion.

In addition to receiving a public lashing from her castmates, Hannah has been under scrutiny from show fans online who were upset with her on and offscreen behavior. As a result, the Bravo star even lost podcast sponsors over insensitive remarks she made on old episodes of her show. Amid all the controversy surrounding her name, Hannah thought it would be a good time to exit stage left. But the timing of her announcement has fans scratching their heads. Following her late-night departure news, some viewers noticed how “radio silent” Hannah, Des, and her BFF Paige DeSorbo were on Instagram. “And These Are The Type Of People Who Usually Post Everyday. Someone Do A Wellness Check LOL,” one Redditor titled a thread.
Others noticed the odd behavior from Hannah’s inner circle. “If this were truly a happy announcement, normally you’d get supportive posts like, “so proud of you! Good luck on the next chapter!,” another said in observance of the Giggly Squad’s silence. But one onlooker accused Hannah’s late-night announcement to be a planned PR move. “PR 101, announce bad news on a late Friday afternoon so the press doesn’t have time to grab it for the weekend,” one person said. “A little different now in the age of social media, but still her announcement so late on a Friday screamed to me that it wasn’t mutual,” they added.
Someone else compared the timing of the reveal to that of Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright of Vanderpump Rules. While he claims to have quit the show, insiders have claimed he was actually given the ax. “Jax and Brittany did the same thing. it’s absolutely not mutual,” they quipped. “If it really was her choice you would think they would be speaking up in support,” added another. “You keep quiet and low key if your friend got fired though.” It looks like Paige of Summer House might either be considering her options or saving face for the dignity of her friend.
