Filming has wrapped on the highly anticipated and long delayed Friends Reunion show on HBO Max which will bring back the original cast.
The HBO Max Friends reunion has completed filming. The recent trend of reboots, reunions, and revivals saw fans of the long-running sitcom plead for the return of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross. HBO Max originally promised that the Friends reunion special would be a key piece of content available at the streamer’s launch, but filming was delayed. Production was originally meant to begin in March 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced a delay that would last almost a year.
The unscripted episode will see the cast reunite but won’t have the actors play the iconic Friends characters themselves, except for one brief segment. Still, the chance to see the cast together again had fans eagerly awaiting for any news about the reunion. Production was said to be starting in March 2021, nearly a year after its original start date, but no movement happened until last week when it was revealed that production would begin sometime in the second week of April.

It seems like that date finally held up, with the official Friends Instagram announcing that production had wrapped on the reunion special. The picture provided along with the announcement also gives a glimpse at the outside set that the reunion was filmed at and the updated logo that differentiates the reunion from the show itself.
Production on the Friends reunion special wrapped fairly quickly and the nature of the special itself will likely allow HBO Max to make the episode available fairly quickly. Similar to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special, also on HBO Max, the cast will reunite and reminisce on the years working on the show together and their friendships since. It was also filmed on the original Friends set, adding that extra dose of nostalgia that fans are craving.
The reunion will come after nearly two decades of Friends being off the air. The show originally ran for ten seasons with 236 episodes, all of which has been proven to be extremely popular in syndication and on streaming. Jennifer Anniston has promised the reunion will be worth the wait when it finally hits HBO Max and the show’s fanbase is eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic actors to the Friends set. Even though it’s been a long time since they’ve all been together on screen, the group has remained close in real life and those relationships will be on display when the special finally premieres.
